Mares For Sale: Trail-Ready

Our Mares come from the best bloodlines available in the Tennessee Walking Horse and Spotted Saddle Horse industry today!

Take a look at most of our horses for sale under saddle and viewable in a video format on our  www.youtube/blackwidowfarm web site.

Note: All of our horses load, clip, cross water and deal with traffic, so if we don't say it on every description please know that in order for a horse to be on my web page it has to be a proven trail horse that does all this stuff.

I put my reputation behind each of these horses and you know bad news travels faster than good news... I've got HUNDREDS of people that can give me a favorable reference, I'm no horse trader - I'm a horse adoption agency.

A substantial percentage of our horse sales come from referrals from other customers and return customers (and I give "package pricing" in consideration for the sale of more than one horse).

Bud's Silver Souvenir (Patsy)

Foaled: June 15, 2005
Breed: Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders & Exhibitors Association Gender: Mare
Height: 14.3h (will mature to 15h plus and stocky made).
Color:  Strawberry Roan w/ Flaxen Mane & Tail - Blaze & Stockings
Sale Price: $4,350

Patsy is a gorgeous saddle mare that is not exciteable under saddle.  She has an effortless and smooth 4 beat running walk and is not looking to "try you out".

She has the sanest bloodlines possible in the breed industry (by Marty Lowe's stallion "Bud's Final Souvenir" - by Red Bud's Rascal, and out of a Bud's Sterling Bullet bred mare.  When ever I find anything with Bud's Sterling Bullet or Red Bud's Rascal, I buy it.  This is real "old time" bred blood lines, not bred for pacing or show ring Big Lick, but bred to gait smoothly and soundly and bred to think under pressure.  NOT high strung.  This is a favorite blood line for field trial riders.  Know for lot's of heart and stamina and a head full of sense.

This color also has my attention.  Strawberry Roan with a flaxen mane and tail, blaze and stockings too.  She is my idea of gorgeous.  She IS kind and would be a great horse for a family.

She will go wherever you ask her to with NO mare-ish attitude what so ever.  She listens nicely to any level of rider.

Hills of Tennessee broke and a guaranteed relaxing ride everytime.  She does it all, traffic safe, bridges, water, other horses, she is a great ride.

Dolly

Foaled: 1999
Breed: SSHBEA
Gender: Mare
Height: 14.3h
Color: Black & White Tobiano
Sale Price: $4,750

Dolly is a saddling mare that is broke for anyone that can sit in the saddle. She hills of Tennessee broke - This means lot's of trail experience AND she doesn't have a mare-ish attitude.

I rode her at the C&O Canal in August 2009 and she was PERFECT.  We rode by gun fire (I'm not making this up), bicycles came up behind us, the train crossed the other side of the Potomac and she didn't care, she tied to the horse trailer quietly, she stood still to mount up in all that comotion, and she is a saddling little Mama.  What a nice ride I had.  It as divine!  She is confidant and trail savvy and a true pleasure to ride.  This mare is not looking to try you out and she is down right agreeable. She also has these adoreable floppy ears that I just love and when she gaits they flop.  (Too cute!!).

So we can say YES to traffice safe, crossing water and bridges, you can ride her alone and ride with a group of horses, she is a pleasure to ride.

We can also say she is easy to control, is very smooth and easy to keep smooth, and she is very happy to just walk too. Not motored up.

She will make an excellent addition to your family.

We currently rent her for $45 an hour for trail rides and riding lessons with novice riders.  I call her my little ambassador to the Spotted Saddle Horse world as it's fun to put people on her that have never ridden a gaited horse and then watch the smile she puts on their face as they experience that gait for the first time.

Call Melissa at (540)303-0569 or email Melissa@Walking-After-Midnight.com to request digital photos and moving pictures of Dolly under saddle.  See her on the www.youtube.com/blackwidowfarm web site.  Don is riding her onto the horse trailer. She is very willing to please!

Dolly bareback and very controllable.

Blackwidows Suzanne Delight

Foaled: 05/16/2005
Breed: TWHBEA
Gender: Mare
Height: 14.3h
Color: BLACK
Sale Price: $5k

Suzanne is named after my mother and is a mare we raised out of our Go Boy's Royal heir bred mare and the blue roan stallion (who has 8 World Grand Champion's on his papers), that we sold to Germany named BlackWiidow's Blue Venom.  This mare sets the standard for SMOOTH.

She is a registered TWHBEA mare with seroious show potential because of her extraordinary natural walking horse talent, but she is calm and gentle and fun to ride on the trails, and you know that's all we really care about.  Which is a shame as this mare is the most talented Tennessee Walking Horse in the state of Virginia.  (Talk is cheap, come and ride her.....  !!!).

I've got some really great riding horses here, and the black mare listed below is also in the same league as this mare, so wouldn't two matched black mares be really pretty on the trail?!

She is kind, not "mare-ish", plays well with others in the pasture and we love her VERY much and are extremely proud of her. (Can you tell? :)

Queenie at the Clark Co. Fair.  She was patient with her riders and adjusted her speed to accomodate the rider.  This IS a mare with heart!  She wants to belong to a family and  has excellant ground manners too.

Rocky's Mystery Queen

Foaled: 06/09/2000
Breed: TWHBEA
Gender: Mare
Height: 15h
Color: BLACK
Sale Price: $4,850

Queenie is a registered TWHBEA mare that is an outstanding trail horse. She also possesses a superior walking horse gait that is unrivaled, even on my farm - except for the black mare listed above.

She has been used as a lesson horse and a trail horse and is searching for someone to bond with and trust. She is a very special mare and plays well with others in the pasture.

She is impressive in every way. We are proud to show you this mare for sale. She is not spooky on the trail and is a blue black that doesn't fade. She is stunning gorgeous!

She was raised by my friend Bev Foltz (who also sells wonderful gaited horses) so we know this mare has been loved and has taught plenty of children how to ride.

Tillie, Dave and Abby, my 2 yr old cousin from Stuarts Draft, Va.

We used Tillie for our family and freinds to ride at Charlie's birthday party. People that had hardly ever ridden or hadn't ridden for 20 years rode her - even away from the farm - alone - down the trail.  She is very calm and happy to walk.

Tillie and Marshall

Tillie and Robin

Note: Charlie's birthday party included a BIG blow up water slide. Tillie never looked at it.....

Suzanne's Dusty Delight  (Tillie)

Foaled: 08/30/1996
Breed: TWHBEA
Gender: Mare
Height: 14.3h
Color: Chestnut
Sale Price: $4,500

Tillie is our brood mare that we sold with a colt at her side to our freinds Denny and Gretta when Tillie was 11 yrs old.  Gretta is industrious and talemted to say the least, so she decided to break Tillie out - and it was a big success.  (Then she broke out our mare Fancy that was 20 yrs old and never started under saddle, another success and another story.... )

Lastt spring I had the chance to buy Tillie back and we have used her for trail rides and riding lessons ever since.  We have 15 of our own personal horses - so keeping Tillie is not going to give her the attention and love she deserves.  When I find the right home for Tillie, I will sell her, but I will cry anyway...  cause she is really sweet and I love her, but I love her enough to put a price on her and start this quest to find her a REALLY GREAT HOME FOR LIFE.

She has an excellant set of TWHBEA papers.  Sun's Delight D. is her grandfather on the top and bottom.  I've raised 5 colts out of her.  All those colts were GrandMa Safe at young ages. I was thinking of breeding her to Andy....  but as I've said, I have 15 of my own personal horses and I've got 3 other mares bred to him so maybe that is enough and Tillie IS GrandMa Safe - it's hard to find GrandMa Safe horses. . .

She has a lovely gait, she canters, she rides with well with other horses and alone.  Traffic, creeks, bridges, no problem.

She does not need a lush green pasture.  She is sound and has never foundered but I don't want her to be in a pasture where she can eat herself sick. She is "an easy keeper".  :)  She "plays well" with others in the pasture too, mares and geldings, no problem. .

Call Melissa at (540)303-0569 or email Melissa@Walking-After-Midnight.com to request digital photos and moving pictures of Tillie under saddle.

Tillie walks gaits canters with and without a bit
